One Year of Weekly Business Insights (And What I’ve Learned)

Apr 14, 2025

This article marks one full year of sharing business insights, practical strategies, and the occasional book recommendation. Some of you have been here from the very beginning and some of you are new.

So, I decided to put together this recap highlighting key insights, memorable moments, and some easter eggs you might have missed.

First, some candor. As most of you know, I started this business a little over a year ago. It hasn’t always been smooth or wildly successful, which simply means I’m not among the 0.5% of entrepreneurs who launch a business and are instantly overwhelmed by demand.

I’ve enjoyed the learning process immensely, although I’m repeatedly reminded that I can’t do it alone. The people who act as sounding boards and objective third parties have been essential and continue to be something I couldn’t do without. Jonathan (both of you), James, Anitra, Jillian, and Marielle—thank you. You're definitely outperforming my AI 'Exec team'.

Since it’s been a year, I’d like to go back through and pull out some of the content I’m most proud of. I’d love to hear from you if something stood out to you the most.

At the beginning of 2025, I started writing multi-week series on specific topics. If you haven’t seen the series on Profitability, or Retention and Customer Loyalty, those are worth checking out.

Being a bit of a romantic, anything referencing Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s poem Ode is definitely worth revisiting. This post is about how to have wild dreams and make meaningful progress towards them.

Similarly, this post on changing your business trajectory lays out a straightforward yet versatile method to tackle your challenges and goals. And I would be remiss if left out the post emphasizing the importance of celebrating your wins.

Now, some easter eggs. You’ve likely already deduced that I use AI to create images for most of these posts.

Which movie do you think inspired this AI-generated image? I aimed for something akin to the iconic 'woman in the red dress' from The Matrix, minus the objectification. AI did a decent job—though that one faceless woman in red flannel was unexpected.

And the boats-in-the-bathtub image? Clearly, practical bathroom design wasn't a priority for the AI this time around.

Perhaps my favorite is the one from last week. I asked AI to create an image based on the opening intro for the post without using any words.

If you don’t recall, it mentioned how hope had shriveled up into a suspiciously chewy raisin in this dystopian future. Anyone notice that the hope raisin was featured prominently in the image? That one made me giggle.

At any rate, I appreciate you. Thank you for being here. If you’re facing a challenge, making an important decision, or just need to walk and talk, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Have a great week and here’s to making 2025 better than 2024.

Cheers!

P.S. If you’re doing decent revenue but still feel like things should be easier, this checklist is for you.
