You run a business. That business offers products and services. Maybe you sell books and toys and the value you provide is joy. Maybe you’re a restaurant and you sell an experience revolving around food and customer service. Whatever it is that you do, the only way it works is if you are making more money than you are spending over a given period of time, regardless of the value or intent of your business.
Let’s use a hypothetical business as an example. You run a bakery, and you have two dozen “products” or baked goods and drinks that you sell. We’ve all been in a bakery and seen the glass display cases with various pastries and sweet treats. You’ve got croissants and donuts, little macarons and other ornately decorated cookies. You have coffee of a few flavors. People seem happy enough but your growth has stalled and you don’t know how to push through the lull.
